Our Story

Black Herons United is an independent, all-inclusive supporter group for Inter Miami CF. Our mission is to celebrate and highlight South Florida's Black communities through our shared love of the game. Miami's history has significant foundations in Caribbean, African American, Afro-Latino, and African cultures and people - almost half of the votes (44%) that supported the 1896 incorporation of the City of Miami were from Black voters. We, the Inter Miami supporters that are members of Black Herons United, recognize the importance of Miami’s Black communities and believe that our team can and should increase its representation of the city's Black roots, the Black culture of many of our players, and the Black experiences of many members of the supporters community.

Started in 2021 as a collective of Black Inter Miami supporters on X, formerly Twitter, we all shared the same belief that Inter Miami should increase the representation of South Florida's Black communities, where football is the primary sport. On February 1st, 2022, we officially made ourselves public to the soccer world and immediately began to make an impact in the stadium and community. Since then, we have built a community of 70+ members including Jamaicans, Haitians, Colombians, Dominicans, Chileans, English, Argentines, and more. Between supporting the operations of a local, grassroots, non-pay-to-play club, Little Haiti FC, to hosting community events, to creating a diverse and inclusive environment both virtually and at tailgates, Black Herons United is committed to centering the experiences and culture of South Florida's diverse Black communities with the common goal of supporting our local club.
